tom brady ankleA smiling Tom Brady says not to worry about his much publicized and photographed ankle.
It won’t keep him out of Sunday’s Super Bowl.

New England’s star quarterback walked up the three short steps to the podium with ease Sunday night, showing no signs of the right ankle injury that had become such a hot topic since he was spotted wearing a protective boot last Monday.

“It’s feeling good. I’ll be ready to go,” Brady said as the AFC champions met the media for the first time shortly after arriving in Phoenix. “I’m not concerned about how it’s going to affect my play. This won’t keep me out.”

Nate KaedingSan Diego Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding played in nearly five full games with a fractured lower left leg (his plant leg), including hitting four field goals in Sunday’s loss to New England in the AFC championship game.

A person familiar with the situation confirmed the injury to The Associated Press on Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the team hasn’t acknowledged the extent of the injury.

Nate Kaeding provided all of the Chargers‘ points in a 21-12 loss in the AFC title game.

“I don’t talk about injuries at all,” team trainer James Collins said when reached by phone.

Jeff Feagles, giants, superbowl, Coughlin,“It’s kind of like the last day of school, we’re packing our bags and guys are a little giddy” punter Jeff Feagles said Saturday, looking around the locker room where Giants players conducted another round of interviews. Feagles who is a 20-year veteran, will be playing in his first Super Bowl a week from Sunday.

After holding their final practice in New Jersey for the Super Bowl, the New York Giants packed their travel bags and now they are heading for Glendale, Arizona. They will be back at Giants Stadium on Monday for meetings and a flight to Phoenix to begin the final week of preparation.

browns, Derek Anderson, free-agent, contract, cleveland, dealThe Browns are focusing their attention to the free-agent market and have already made contract offers to key players like quarterback Derek Anderson and running back Jamal Lewis. One of the Browns spokesman confirmed proposals were sent to the representative for both players, but he could not provide details about the length or value of the deals.

Derek Anderson, 24-year-old, who won 10 games and threw 29 touchdown passes in his first season as a starter, is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on Feb. 29. If the Browns can’t lock him up with a long-term deal before then, they can tender him with a one-year contract worth $2.52 million. Cleveland would then be able to match any contract offers made to Anderson by other teams or receive first and third-round draft picks as compensation if Anderson signs with another team.
