The Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks 42-20 at a snowy Lambeau Field and will either host the NY Giants or travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game on Fox. The future Hall of Famer number 4 Favre threw three touchdowns and led his team over their former coach to within one win of a Super Bowl appearance. Brett Favre, today at the age of 38, looks like the Brett Favre of 95′: completely dominant. What a season for Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre!
The game was over when the Green Bay Packers broke a franchise record for scoring in the playoffs on Ryan Grant’s 1-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the fourth quarter in near blizzard conditions. This touchdown put the Packers up 42-20, breaking the previous record by one point and sealing their spot in the NFC Championship game.
The Packers were efficient after the two early turnovers. They generated 408 yards of offense, converted on all of their third down tries until late in the fourth quarter, scored on all six trips into the red zone, while Brett Favre completed 18 of 23 passes.
“I’ve been hoping for that for 17 years,” Favre said. “I was watching the weather all day and it’s a shame, I’m like, ‘Just give us one of those big snow games.’”
“I wanted to play where you couldn’t see the field, and the snowplow comes out. It keeps getting worse and worse,” he said.
