After placing on injury reserve list defensive tackle Tommy McDaniel, Jacksonville Jaguars acquired former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jackson.
Jackson, an 11-season veteran who has played for five teams in his career, has been released by the Atlanta Falcons last week. The Falcons head-coach Bobby Petrino has said that he wants an younger defense and they have to part ways with Jackson.
As Jacksonville’s defensive tackle Marcus Stroud could face a possible league suspension, for allegedly violating the NFL steroids and related substances policy, Grady Jackson could be the replacement that the Jaguars need in this situation. Jackson, who is the 2006 leader in tackles for loss, with 13, said that he choose Jaguars because of their defensive style of play. “I like the style of defense they play, the one-gap scheme, and how aggressive they are and a couple of coaches I know on the staff,” Jackson said, adding he played under linebackers coach Mark Duffner in Green Bay and special teams coach Joe DeCamillis in Atlanta.
Jackson could give the Jaguars depth along the defensive line, as one of their best defensive, McDaniel injured his wrist during a game in week 6 against Colts, and also missed last week game at Tampa Bay.
In other news, Jaguars (5-2), will play in week 9 against New Orleans Saints, in a game of must win for the team from Jacksonville, as they need to stay close to division leaders and champions Colts.
