The problems continue to mount for the Vikings(2-5) who went down to the Eagles(3-4) on Sunday in the Metrodome. Both teams came into the game at a 2-4 at the bottom of their respective divisions looking to keep themselves in the running for a playoff spot.

The game started well for the Vikings who scored a touchdown on their first possession of the game on a 9 yd pass from Kelly Holcomb to TE Visanthe Shiancoe. With the rookie Adrian Peterson the NFL’s leading rusher, the Vikings looked set on taking a commanding lead in this game, but the Eagles veteran defense stepped up and held Peterson to 70 yards and no touchdowns.

Everyone knows that you can’t run on Minnesota and the Eagles weren’t going to test that, instead they took advantage of a struggling secondary and moved the ball through the air with Donovan McNabb spreading the ball to seven different receivers on 23 of 36 completions for 333 yards and 1 touchdown, the second Philadelphia touchdown coming on a 1yd run by running back Brian Westbrook. By the halfway mark the Eagles were up 17-10 forcing the Vikings to throw in the second half. Backup quarterback Brad Bollinger came in after Holcomb sustained a neck injury in the third quarter but to no avail as the Eagles maintained the one possession advantage until the end clinching the game 23-16.
